The keen-eyed amongst you will have guessed that this is my own garden, which I have been working on (ably assisted by my lovely wife) since early 2004.
The total area is about a third of an acre and the previous owners had planted a good number of trees and shrubs including some fine specimens but flowers were noticeable by their absence! Inevitably, trees and shrubs will grow, so one of the first jobs was to do some serious thinning out. This process revealed hidden paths, a couple of blossom trees previously unspotted tucked away behind a conifer and, intriguingly, lots of old beer bottles!
Opening up the space enabled us to plant lots of herbaceous perennials, bulbs and grasses. We also embarked on various 'projects', including a dry-stone retaining wall, a raised bed vegetable plot and a summerhouse. Needless to say, the garden is an ongoing project so look out for new images appearing in this section.
