A neglected Victorian walled garden lurking within the grounds of the school has had new life breathed into it.
The brief was to design a wildlife friendly garden that could be used by staff and pupils as a place for quiet relaxation as well as an outdoor learning environment.
Elements include an L-shaped lean-to classroom, an open 'Circle of Contemplation' complete with stone block seats (re-cycled from another part of the school), a kitchen garden with raised beds and a greenhouse, a pond with a dipping deck, a living willow tunnel and a wildflower meadow. Native and non-native trees, shrubs and flowers should all help to attract a wide range of wildlife.
