The existing patio in this suburban back garden was not very user friendly. It was on two levels and wasn't really big enough for the new garden seating that the clients had bought. I was asked to re-design this corner of the garden to include a new patio and some planting to soften the hard landscaping.
The planting is a mix of shrubs, perennials and grasses, including roses, salvias, box and Mexican feather grass. Two evergreen star jasmines climb the fencing behind the seating, their white flowers giving off a wonderful fragrance in June and July. A sail shade gives protection from the midday sun.
The final image shows the front garden with new plantings of box, yew, lavender, miscanthus grasses and alliums surrounding an existing Eleagnus shrub which has been pruned and shaped.
