This garden sits within an older walled garden and wraps around the house on three sides. A new axis path leads from the parking area to the front door of the house and continues on to a pergola on the west side. Planting either side of the path includes ornamental grasses, lavender, box, yew and agapanthus. The east side of the house, with access out from the kitchen/diner, has a courtyard garden feel with the original stone wall at the back and an L shaped pergola structure on the other two sides. The hard landscaping layout is relatively formal though this is softened by blowsy planting including roses, catmint, lavender, sedums, valerian and verbena. Star jasmine, roses and clematis clothe the pergola and a small flowering cherry and a flowering dogwood will give some height in time. A bubbling water feature adds some gentle sound and movement.
